The Victorian Ambulance Service began introducing the Toyota Troop Carrier
in 1996 as a replacement for the Ford F-250 4WDs

The  2010 Toyota TroopCarrier is the latest version of the 4WD to be introduced into Ambulance Victoria and is being rolled out as the preferred 4WD.  Whilst not the most comfortable for the patient and providing very limited storage and working space,  it's performance in difficult terrain makes it the ideal choice at this time.  Latest changes include an improved ride for the drive and  low prolife beacons for improved use during bush work. Patient comfort remains an issue and the transport is limited to off road use only, with the patient being transferred to a proper stretcher vehicle once out of difficult terrain.
